Basketball

Basketball originated in 1891 by James Naismith. He was assigned to teach a physical
education class at YMCA(Young Men's Christian association) and he was told to invent a new game. Since it was winter they prefered for an indoor game.

Naismith thought about the "duck on a rock" which he played in this boyhood. Then he thought of nailing up raised boxes into which players would try to throw a ball. As he couldn't find boxes he used bskets instead of boxes.

And this is how the Basketball game emerged..

The first National Basketball league was founded in the year 1898.

National Basketball Association:

The National Basketaball Association was founded in the year 1946. However National
Basketball League is the prior leahue to the NBA. It was formed during 1937 with 13 teams.

The NBL lasted for 12 years and then it merged with Basketball Association of america in 1949 which later renamed as National Basketball Association(NBA).
